Family Resource Center has a new name.

Family Resource Center has changed its name to Together Center.

One of the first nonprofit multi-tenant centers in the nation, Together Center was designed first and foremost to lower barriers to finding help.  Where East King County residents once needed to travel from Bothell to Renton or beyond to find help at individual locations, people now find comprehensive assistance at one location in downtown Redmond.

“As we celebrate our 20th year of creating access to human services and begin the work of the next decades, we want to better tell our story,” explained Executive Director Pam Mauk. “The Family Resource Center name is now found everywhere, used for all manner of services, organizations and program sites, both locally and nationally. This has led to ongoing confusion concerning our services and role.  After several years of Board planning, we are pleased to announce that we are changing our name to Together Center.”

The name is drawn from the mission and work of the Center:  “We create access to human services, so people can find help when they need it.”   The Center works in partnership with agencies and community organization, on campus and off.  Launched twenty years ago as a collaboration, Together Centers works to create greater access, identify gaps, develop solutions and operate more efficiently to support the community’s health and human service needs. “As our tag-line has long promoted,” Mauk said, “we are able to help in a hundred ways, thanks to working together.”

Over 65,000 Eastsiders, half of them children, receive assistance each year from the 18 agencies operating on the Center’s unique human services campus and other supports provided by Together Center.    Major agencies on the campus include Hopelink, Sound Mental Health, Friends of Youth, HealthPoint, Youth Eastside Services, Habitat for Humanity and many more.

Four agencies launched Together Center in 1990, and the Center continues to meet its mission by working in partnership with others.

All are invited to Together Center’s 20th anniversary on September 24 from 3 to 6 pm at its campus at 16225 NE 87th, Suite A-5, Redmond, WA  98052.  For more information, call 425-869-6699 or visit www.togethercenter.org.
