Together Center hosts ‘Together Strong’

Together Center hosted its second annual fundraising breakfast on March 25, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, and raised $47,385 to further its work to ensure people find help when they need it. Approximately 175 people attended the event, including Congresswoman Suzan DelBene, who spoke, King County Council Members Kathy Lambert and Claudia Balducci, and more than a dozen city council representatives from throughout the area, including Redmond Council Members Angela Birney, Hank Myers, Byron Shutz, and John Stilin.

The event is named Together Strong after the benefit of strength in numbers that agencies and their clients experience at the Center. Together Center is home to 20 health, housing, and human service agencies serving over 25,000 each year from throughout East King County at the campus.

Muslim Community Resource Center Joins Together Center Advocate Office

Beginning this week, the Muslim Community Resource Center (MCRC) began providing information and support at Together Center. Each Tuesday from 10 am to 4 pm, MCRC volunteers will be available in Together Center’s Advocate Office off the lobby (Suite A-8) at Together Center’s Front Door….

Three Named to Together Center Board of Directors

Together Center is happy to announce the addition of Linda Atkins of Enumclaw, Byron Shutz of Redmond, and Azim Walli of Kirkland to its Board of Directors.

Linda-AtkinsAtkins is an attorney with Davis Wright Tremaine in Bellevue. She was on the Center’s first Board in the 1990s and has provided periodic legal assistance since that time, most recently as a pro bono advisor for a replication effort. She was a founding member of the Enumclaw Schools Foundation, and volunteers with Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP).


Byron-ShutzRedmond City Council Member Shutz has been an ambassador for the Center and recently served on its finance and property operations committee. A Redmond Kiwanian, he is a member of the Lake Washington Schools Foundation Advisory Board and has been involved in a variety of school advocacy roles.



Azim-WalliAzim Walli, Business Development Officer for Verity Credit Union in Seattle, was also a Board Member briefly a decade ago. More recently he has a very active ambassador for the Center.

Foundations Make Major Grants to Support Together Center

After first addressing wood rot in supporting beams, Together Center is now well on its way to a new double coat of paint and refreshed color scheme thanks to major support from local foundations.

A grant from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing (ECF) of $40,000 ensured that the Center would proceed with the painting project. ECF is an employee-owned and managed charitable giving program making a positive impact since 1951.

$10,000 gifts were also received from each of the following: the D.V. and Ida J. Charitable Trust, the Joshua Green Foundation and The Norcliffe Fund. The Archibald Charitable Foundation made a $2,500 gift and Microsoft has pledged $10,000 for event sponsorship and capital needs.

Three Agencies Join Together Center Advocate Office

Beginning in November, Eastside residents will find it easier to find one-on-one support for a range of needs thanks to additions to Together Center’s Advocate Office. Seattle Vet Center, Consejo Counseling & Referral, and Senior Services, will bring providers one day each week to Suite A-8 at Together Center’s Front Door.

Together Center Concludes Issaquah Human Services Campus Effort

Together Center announced today that it is concluding efforts to establish a human services campus in Issaquah. Lead volunteers Margaret Moore and John Rittenhouse, who have worked on the effort since 2006, and Pam Mauk, CEO of Together Center, the lead agency for the effort, met with City officials to inform them that the effort will not come to fruition.

Microsoft Named “Business of the Year” by Alliance of Eastside Agencies

The Alliance of Eastside Agencies (AEA) presented its Awards for Outstanding Service in Human Services earlier this month (June 3) at Daniel’s Broiler in Bellevue. Among the recipients was Microsoft, honored as Business of the Year, thanks to a nomination by Together Center. Jim Stanton, Community Affairs Manager, Microsoft Real Estate & Facilities, accepted the award.

Pedro Castro Named to Together Center Board of Directors

PedroMagellanTogether Center is happy to announce the addition of Pedro Castro to its Board of Directors. Castro, a resident of Redmond, is Founder and Principal, Magellan Architects, located in Redmond.  He recently completed a term on the Washington State Board of Architecture Registration, a six-year position for which he was appointed by the Governor.

Omega Financial & Together Center Win “Make More Happen” Award

Together Center has received a pledge of $3,000 from Safeco Insurance as part of its “Make More Happen” Award. Safeco is celebrating the volunteerism of 33 insurance agencies nationwide with an award to each of the nonprofit organizations for whom the winning agencies volunteer.

For Omega Financial & Insurance Services in Kirkland, that organization is Together Center. Danelle Coley made the nomination. She serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors and is active in fundraising and outreach activities for the center. Together Center is the only Washington State nonprofit selected to receive the $3,000 donation and to be considered for addition funds.

Rob Forenza Named to Together Center Board of Directors
